“Storytelling and the Holidays”

Dec. 18, 19, and 20th * 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. * Ages 7-12

- Listen to talented storytellers describing a funny or poignant holiday memory
- Write a short piece about your own holiday memory using descriptive language and adding details
- Share your story with the group if you wish
- Make handcrafted gifts for family and friends using beautiful paper, embossing tools, calligraphy, glitter, beads, and all things sparkly, fluffy, and brightly-colored

Day 1 – Your child will write a poem and make poetry book art

Inference – Literary Style – Creative Writing
Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven”
Your late elementary or middle schooler will learn to interpret and recite Poe’s most famous poem, “The Raven” (1845). Our teachers will guide your student through vocal interpretation, an introduction to poetic devices, understanding basic archetypes, and comparing Egyptian and Greek mythology. At the end of the class, parents will be invited to a showcase of their child’s work.
9TH AND 10TH GRADES
Success on Academic Essays, High School
In this four-week class, high school students will learn proven techniques for essay writing success. Each class will be packed with expert tips and practical, step-by-step instructions for completing every stage of the essay-writing process. Week one will focus on developing a thesis, week two, drafting claims, week three, citing and revising, and week four, polishing and editing. Students will receive individualized attention as well as templates and checklists to serve in high school and even through college! Your high school student will master techniques for succeeding on the English, Reading, and Writing portions of the ACT. In a small class environment, your student will receive individualized instruction from one of our well-versed tutors.
SAT Prep Class
Your high school student will master techniques for succeeding in the Reading, Writing, and Language portions of the SAT. In a small class environment, your student will be one of five and receive lots of individual instruction from one of our well-versed tutors.
